What are the reasons for short naps?

Reasons for Short Naps

Short nap we considering ones what lasts 15 to 45 minutes. There can be several reasons for that: 

Sleep regressions:

4 month sleep regression sign is sudden nap shortage, usually it’s last upto 1 sleep cycle - 35/40 minutes. To help it, mom can try to prolong this short naps by breastfeeding, tapping or rocking. 

Hunger: 

Pre morning hours: most of the young kids do woking up between 5 to 6 am for co called “pre morning feed”, specially those who sleep night in a stretch. Mom will need to breastfeed or formula feed the baby to continue sleep upto appropriate hours. 

Lunch time: if kid do taking solid, good lunch can balance and prolong sleep naturally. 

Dinner time: good dinner can help your baby sleep through the night or at stretch. 

Light and sound: 

The base of good sleep is blackout curtains in the room where baby sleeps,  absence of sound and presence of white noise. 

Overtiredness: 

If child was too tired or had poor rest  over the day, tears, - he had collected stress hormones, what won’t let him rest well and baby sleep will be partial and bothered. 

Undertiredness: 

Child not yet ready to sleep or had very short nap in between what interrupted next sleep. 

Incorrect timing for naps: 

Connected to unbalanced day sleep routine, child taking too long to fall asleep - 1 hour and more. 

Negative sleep associations: breastfeeding to sleep, rocking to sleep, sleep on lap, etc. This all baby demands again once awake in between the sleep cycles In order to sleep back again.
